As a destination wedding photographer there is something rather awesome about being asked to photograph a Wedding overseas. Of course sometimes there’s the odd mosquito bite to deal with. And, don’t get me started on Italian roads. But, I have to admit that photographing lovely couples getting married abroad is incredible.
What would your dream wedding look like? A Pretty location? You bet. Grand castles and villas? Almost always available. A deserted beach? If you want….
So let me introduce you to a few of my favourite destination wedding locations in Italy….
A Wedding in Tuscany……
La Bella Toscana will immediately enchant you. Can you imagine walking down a pretty lawn aisle to take your vows? At Castello di Vincigliata you can do that. You’ll take your vows in a garden overlooking the beautiful city of Florence. Do you dream of having your first dance under the twinkling stars? At Castel Di Poggio you’ll be the envy of everyone as you take to the floor to do that. And, be enchanted by the perfume of flowers as you drink a celebratory glass of champagne. Romantic castles and palazzo’s are a speciality in this stunning region of Italy. Which is why it’s still one of the most romantic places in the world to get married…..
A Lakeside Wedding in Italy……
The Lakes of Northern Italy are so beautiful. Especially in summer when they reflect the deep blue of a summer sky and shimmer in the summer heat. In winter they darken against the cool of winter snow. But, whatever the season, they’re a perfect location for a destination wedding. It seems like there’s also a vineyard around every corner. Perhaps then a vineyard wedding close to the lake? Though it’s probably not a good idea to coincide with the wine harvest in the autumn! Or maybe a grand celebration at Castello di Lonato? From its turrets you can look out over the vast expanse of Lake Garda.
A Wedding in Undiscovered Umbria…….
Umbria is a little quieter than its famous neighbour, Tuscany. As a result, many of its treasures are yet to be discovered. But, it is just as beautiful. Enchanting castles and stunning views await for a romantic destination wedding. In Umbria and Tuscany we work with wedding planner Paolo Cicognani. A Champagne Wedding in a Chateau……
Perhaps you want to hold your destination wedding in France? France captured my heart (along with Italy), many years ago. And my favourite locations in France? I love the vine clad fields that surround magical chateau in Champagne. And, for Mediterranean warmth, a rustic ‘mas’ surrounded by lavender fields would be perfect. More of a city couple? Channel your inner French aristocrat with an opulent wedding at the Trianon Palace Versailles. France awaits…….
Sunset Wedding in Santorini……..
And finally, if you want a stunning sunset ceremony, above a blue Aegean sea, there can only be one place. Santorini. A mythical island of whitewashed buildings and startlingly blue skies. It may be popular but it’s still romantic and beautiful. Perfect for any destination wedding.
