A summer wedding at Friars Court in Oxfordshire is something special. Jeffrey Cleaver of Silver Pear Weddings organises weddings here. It’s a venue that still has that feel of a private country home (it is actually still home to the private owners). And, when Nick and Elsie first showed me Friars Court it struck me how pretty and romantic it was. It’s no surprise then that they chose to hold their summer wedding at Friars Court. Naturally, they also had their pre-wedding shoot at the venue! So, by the time their wedding day came around in June, I couldn’t wait to return. The house and gardens in their full summer glory, perfect for Nick and Elsie’s gorgeous wedding.
Elsie was able to get ready for the day ahead in the lovely ‘Bride’s Day Room’. With space enough for her bridesmaids they were all able to take time out to relax and calm their nerves. The photos of them chatting and laughing as they prepared for the day ahead are so relaxed. For Elsie and Nick they’re priceless memories of a beautiful wedding day.
Elsie looked elegant, composed and beautiful in her Charlotte Balbier gown. Her hair and make-up perfectly complemented her look. We especially love the bridal portrait of Elsie as she heads downstairs to her waiting car. Whilst you can walk from the house to the ceremony venue, the British weather was unpredictable. So, a car for the short distance ensured that Elsie would arrive looking composed rather than drenched!
With the weather so unpredictable, Elsie and Nick chose the shelter of The Stone Barn in which to hold their wedding ceremony. With pretty summer flowers and simple lime-washed walls it was perfect. And, there was plenty of room for all the guests to have a good view of their joyous ceremony. Don’t you just love the Elsie’s radiant smile?
With the skies clearing, everyone headed to the marquee and gardens for the celebrations. Hugs, laughter, tears and abundant joy defined Elsie and Nick’s wedding party. The light was just perfect as the ‘walls’ of the marquee opened up to reveal the setting for their reception. And with the weather on our side, Elsie and Nick took the opportunity to explore the gardens. The photos from their ‘walkabout’ at Friars Court are so romantic. From delicate flowers, to stone arches, a rose garden and graceful trees, the gardens at Friars Court are stunning. Truly, they have all the ingredients for romantic wedding portraits.
And, when it was time to return to their guests? Well, it was back to the fantastic marquee for their first dance and the big party with all their friends and loved ones.
“We’ve viewed our photos so many times……We adore them so, so much! They capture our wedding perfectly…..love how you captured all the smiles, laughter and feel of the day……..We’ve had so many compliments about how wonderful they are…… The photos really are brilliant, and we will treasure them for years and years to come.”
