A Venue with Style and Grace

Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire

As a wedding photographer I love working at historic venues and I class myself as very fortunate to live between Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire where so many historic houses are located. Kelmarsh Hall is no exception and is a stunning house and a gorgeous country venue that’s high on my own list of great places to photograph a wedding. So, I thought I would share with you a few thoughts on why this is such an amazing location for your wedding and why I love these historic venues so much.

There is no doubt that a magnificent backdrop to your celebrations can add that ‘je ne sais quoi’ to your day. Built for the Hanbury family in the 1730’s this is the house that provided the blueprint for the interior ‘look’ of country houses in the 20th century and exudes style and grace from every pore of its historic fibre.

Just imagine having your ceremony in the Saloon where polished wooden floors reflect the sparkling chandeliers and where your guests can look out onto the beautiful gardens. I think the feel of the ceremony space really sets the tone for the day. You and your guests are clearly going to be very excited about the day but I think walking into a room that is filled with ‘loveliness’ just adds something really special to the day and makes everyone feel great!

Stunning Gardens for a Romantic Walkabout

I haven’t yet been to an historic grand house that doesn’t have amazing gardens. Think ornamental lakes, sweeping willow trees, gardens full of scented roses and formal knot gardens that all provide a stunning natural backdrop and privacy for you both to share a few quiet moments together and that give me the opportunity to capture stunning photographs of you both.

Exclusive and Secluded Venue

Historic houses often work on an exclusive use basis. That means you aren’t likely to bump into another bride or be disturbed by other guests and, as a your photographer I won’t have to make additional plans for working around another bridal party and still ensure that I focus all my efforts on your day. It provides the environment in which to ‘be inspired and be you’…….Oh, and your guests will likely love you forever not just for inviting them to be part of something so special in your life but for hosting it at a venue where ordinarily you wouldn’t necessarily get access.
