Set within the flat lands and big skies of Cambridgeshire Childerley Hall is a glorious venue at which to hold your wedding. Still a private home, the walls of this Elizabethan gem once held Charles I under house arrest and, like many magnificent historic homes it’s a venue with rooms and gardens that don’t disappoint.
I’ve been fortunate to have visit on a number of occasions to photograph fantastic weddings and I’m always impressed with the immaculate stunning gardens. There are lush perfumed roses, fabulous herbaceous borders and shady orchards, and the Courtyard Loggia is a perfect place to hold an outdoor ceremony. Festooned with flowers it’s an impossibly romantic spot in which to be married; although the small private chapel is equally lovely and may give more protection if rain is imminent as it so frequently is for our beloved British climate!
Enjoy champagne and canapés on the lawn. With the main hall behind and the exquisite beauty of the gardens laid before you it is English perfection that can be enjoyed before you head into the Long Barn for dining and dancing under its ancient roof.
