It’s that time of year again…if you’re reading this you’re likely to have recently got engaged. Am I right? Normally at this time of year I’d share the insider’s guide to ‘Just Got Engaged….Getting Married’. But hey, chances are if you got engaged at Christmas or New Year you’re likely to have been questioned inquisitor style already about wedding venues and a date for the big day. So, in the spirit of sharing I’ve pulled together a list of the most popular Cambridgeshire Wedding Venues to feast your eyes on.
Here in Cambridgeshire we’re fortunate to have everything from stunning historic colleges and majestic family homes to farms, rustic barns and country gardens. It’s fair to say I’ve photographed weddings at a lot of venues in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire, but if you think one is missing please let me know!
I’ll add new wedding venues when I hear about them and there’ll be new blog posts, and feature weddings throughout 2020 to give you some great inspiration for your wedding day. If you’ve any questions about a venue, particularly photography questions (!) just get in touch!
Oh, and if you’re looking for a fantastic location for an engagement shoot take a look at some of my favourites including Paris, Florence, Wimpole Hall and Cambridge University Botanic Gardens.
With the mercurial nature of the British weather it pays to think about indoor wedding venue versus outdoor wedding venue. I’ve photographed at all of these venues and I’m a recommended wedding photographer at Island Hall and at The Old Bridge Hotel.
I’ve photographed some gorgeous outdoor ceremonies at Island Hall and Chippenham Park, both of which also have the capacity to hold your ceremony indoors should the rain come down!
Barn venues are perennially popular! Each has their own advantages but Childerley Hall has managed to mix ‘rustic barn’ and historic house quite well and is one of my favourites.
(You may need to be an Alumnus of the relevant College)
I’ve photographed weddings at all of these colleges, each one of them unique and beautiful.
When you’re planning a wedding there’s always a budget to be mindful of and having a simple inexpensive venue can allow you to prioritise your budget elsewhere on what’s really important to you. My personal favourite from this list is Rectory Farm, close to Cambridge which has lovely grounds and does a great marquee set up.
