Laura and James’ Wedding at Wadenhoe House
On a comparatively cool day in August I headed to Wadenhoe House, on the Northamptonshire Cambridgeshire Border, to photograph Laura and James’ wedding. A lovely laid back day spiced with fun and a dash of rain and odd rumble of thunder……
Contagious Calm….
There’s normally an element of chaos to bridal preparations but Laura’s preparations were relaxed and calm – apparently my calm was feeding through to everyone else. Blessed with an amazing smile Laura glided through her make up showing only a hint of nerves when ‘the dress’ was on and Dad arrived to escort her to the ceremony.
Packed to the rafters…….
With a full house of guests waiting for her Laura made her way toward James, although the pageboys in their ‘city trader’ outfits initially stole the show with their enthusiasm to get to the front. There are some great images of the two of them seemingly having a chat that brought to mind the image of ‘future city trader’!
A nervous James turned right round to watch Laura walk down the aisle and it was lovely to see such a relaxed ceremony. Finally Mr and Mrs, they squeezed their way out (the ‘aisle’ was incredibly narrow!) into cooler air and a celebratory glass of champagne.
It didn’t take long for everyone to join them and join in the celebrations……
Umbrella anyone….
Yes, there was rain but the gallant waiting staff used parasols as umbrellas to protect guests – inspired and very gallant.
Sunshine after the rain…..
Thankfully the rain didn’t hang around long and with an exuberant crowd of groomsmen and friends to make sure everyone had fun, Laura and James could sneak away for a short while to walk the grounds, have a few romantic wedding photographs and have a little time to themselves (apart from yours truly of course…) Wadenhoe House does have lovely grounds and its arched window is a lovely backdrop.
Dance like your Dad….
So, it’s that time of day. The first dance has started but Laura and James are keen to invite friends and family onto the dance floor. I have to confess that when I got married we didn’t have a first dance – both of us would have been far too embarrassed at the attention so I do feel for couples who may not want to give a ‘Strictly’ style floor show for their guests. I think my favourite dance image though has to be the one taken outside (yes, outside) with two guests opting for cooler air to show their moves on the gravel outside – original!
Laura and James’ day was lovely and good fun and I would like to thank them for making me so welcome and also to thank them for the very kind message that they sent as they were heading for the airport on honeymoon
“Just a quick message as we are on our way to the airport to say once again, thank you so so much for photographing our wedding. We have had so many comments about how professional and unobtrusive that you were. It was a pleasure to work with you and your calmness on the morning was contagious. Thank you so much and we can’t wait to see the photos”
It is simply a great feeling to be part of someone’s ‘big day’ ……….
