If your check list for the perfect venue includes a Great Hall, a Minstrel’s Gallery and Jacobean fireplace, look no further. Set in countryside close to Ware in Hertfordshire the impressive Grade II listed manor that is Hertfordshire Wedding Venue Fanhams Hall awaits. I photographed a wedding there for the first time this summer (2014) and found it an amazing venue to work at. I particularly loved the light that flooded into the gorgeous room where the ceremony was held and that I could face the bride and groom as they took their vows – it’s so lovely to capture the emotions of that part of the day.
The interiors certainly don’t disappoint but there are of course the magnificent formal gardens with the requisite water features demanded of such an important house, along with a lakeside veranda and a gorgeous Japanese Tea House where you can also hold your ceremony. This is a countryside beauty that will enthral and beguile. It may be close to London and all the major routes but it feels like a world away from the fast pace of modern life; its an amazing place where beautiful flower arches and displays create a stunning natural backdrop for capturing images of you and your guests in summer, and where shrubs and plants and perhaps snow can provide their own appeal in cooler seasons. Dreamy.
