Best of British with a dash of French Style…..
On the occasions when I’m doing something other than photographing gorgeous weddings, I have great fun working as a luxury event photographer. I work closely with Victoria and The Golden Network, a specialist network for financial services professionals working in The City of London, who get the opportunity to let off steam at fabulous events organised by Victoria and her team, which also includes a concierge service for private events. Originally from France, the team bring a touch of French chic to cool events that celebrate the best of London that I love to capture in my signature documentary style of photography.
The Ultimate Luxury……Sparkling Prosecco and Oysters
What better way to celebrate the ‘marriage’ of the finer things in life than quaffing a Prosecco and learning to ‘shuck’ an oyster caught in the waters around Britain, at the fabulous Wright Brothers Seafood Restaurant in Spitalfields? On this occasion, guests enjoyed a great demonstration on how to ‘shuck’ their own oysters from The Wright Brothers own talented chef before enjoying one or two themselves. Capturing the essence of the event is really important and I find the best way of doing that is to continue to work in my signature documentary style so that when you look at the images you get a real feel for the fun that everyone is having.
My clients always wait for their photographs with eager anticipation and love the natural, spontaneous images that I produce. It may look easy but that does come from experience, having a creative eye and knowing how to work with event organisers. When you organise event it’s worth considering these Five Brilliant Tips for Organising and Photographing an Amazing Event….
- Choose a photographer that knows how to work in the type of light and environment that your venue has. They don’t necessarily have to have worked at the actual venue but they should be used to photographing in a variety of lighting and activity scenarios and not necessarily rely exclusively on flash to get results. I work mainly with available light and rarely have to use flash.
- Work with a great organiser who will usually have a long list of amazing contacts and suppliers that can work with you to create the perfect event.
- Choose a venue that reflects the vibe that you want from your event – The Wright Brothers was perfect for urban cool whereas a country house venue will give a completely different feel
- An event with a particular theme or focus usually makes for a lot of enjoyment and great images. Having an interactive lesson, whether it’s cocktail making or cooking is great.
- Top the event off with great food and drink – think quality rather than quantity for a truly luxurious event. Oysters and Champagne shout luxury!
